Cultural Industries has been an integral part of the cultural history of Georgia; among the treasures left behind by ancient civilizations that are currently on displays and storages of the different museums of Georgia, and the traditions kept in of folk-art, reflect the brilliant craftsmanship and creativity of yesteryear; during the centuries this production has been a source not only of cultural pride but also of economic livelihood, exchange of ideas, creativity.

In September 2005 Maka Dvalishvili, GACC Director, participated in the panel discussions of UNESCO Global Alliance on the Cultural “Development of Cultural Industries”.
At the meeting the main topics have been discussed: From creation to distribution – forging the chain of skills; Stimulation and diversify markets- the role of businesses; Fostering respect of rights- piracy prevention; Sharing know-how at local level the creative cities.
All these topics are directly connected with the GACC project- Development of Cultural Industries in Georgia and Caucasus countries. see more... |

The roundtable meeting was held within the frameworks of the ongoing program of the UNESCO Moscow Office for Armenia , Azerbaijan , Belarus , Georgia , the Republic of Moldova , and the Russian Federation - Creation of Cultural Corridor “ Europe-Caucasus-Asia ”, in collaboration with the Arts and Culture Network Program, Open Society Institute Budapest.

The goal of the meeting was to put together professionals- representatives from cluster countries (Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan) to discuss and formulate the ways to turn the field of cultural heritage into the source for the profitable, income generating business, as well as into the source for intercultural dialogues, to create long term partnership and cooperation among participant countries and organizations to develop exchanges in the field of cultural industries, further execution of joint projects; to support creative activities and development of cultural industries. |
