The symposium will take place in the capital city Tbilisi and in other cities throughout of Georgia, from Saturday, June 21 to Sunday June 29, 2008. GACC wins European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Award

On 8 June 2007, the European Commission (DG EAC) and Europa Nostra awarded the 5 Top Prizes, 16 Medals and 13 Diplomas of the annual European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards.
GACC President Mrs. Maka Dvalishvili received the medal for the project of the Timotesubani Church of the Virgin fulfilled by Georgian Arts & Culture Center and Conservazione Beni Culturali, Rome (Italy). The project had been awarded in the category of Architectural Heritage for the project. The project served for the detailed diagnostic studies and the development of a holistic methodology focused on the treatment of microbiological degradation, that have led to the successful conservation of an extraordinary example of Georgian medieval art.

Traveling Exhibitions
Traveling Exhibition: Adornment & History "Ancient Georgia Crossroads of Europe and Asia" within the frames of Georgian Season and co-organisation of Georgian Embassy in Brussels, is now desplayed in Brussels, Belgium.
Last week October 9-16, 2008 it was presented at the exhibition space of European Commission, now the exhibition is movd to the K Gallery, Art Promotion SA, and it will last till October 28, 2007.

Recently the World Monuments Fund (WMF) announced the World MonumentsWatch list of 100 Most Endangered Sites 2008. We are pleased to let you know that the Gelati Monastery and Academy in Kutaisi entared the list.

Screening of Levan Glonti's films:

"Tao Klarjeti"
had been held at Georgian Arts & Culture Center halls.
Levan Glonti - the known Georgian film director graduated in 1984 from the Department of Filmmaking of the Theater and Film Institute (Tbilisi, Geogia). Since 1990, he has been a film director
at the studio Kvali in Tbilisi.

Conservation of Martvili Frescos
The conservation works at Marvili church are in progress. The end of the season is scheduled for the end of November 2007.

Francesca Pique, specialist on wall painting conservation, visited Martvili
on Getty's behalf.

The special reception was held at CEC ArtsLink, (New York , NY) in honor of Ambassador Irakli Alasania, Permanent Representative of Georgia in the United Nations. The event was organized by Maka Dvalishvili, Fulbright visiting scholar at Columbia University. The goal of the meeting was to improve the relations and programs between Georgian cultural community and CECAsrtLink. Presentation of Contemporary Georgian Art, Georgian folk songs and testing of Georgian food and wine have been performed at the event.
